The number refers to the so-called nominal width of the condom in millimeters. The nominal width corresponds to half the circumference of the condom and is measured with the condom laid flat. This specification is standardized and is the same for all condom brands. A size 53 from another brand is therefore just as wide as a MISTER SIZE condom in size 53 (M).

Important: This number does not correspond to your penis circumference. A MISTER SIZE 57 (L) condom does not mean that your penis has a circumference of 57 mm.

To help you find your condom size even faster, the new MISTER SIZE packaging features a familiar size designation alongside the nominal width:

47 = XS, 49 = S, 53 = M, 57 = L, 60 = XL, 64 = XXL, and 69 = XXXL.

The key factor in choosing your condom remains the correct nominal width. The letter sizes are primarily there to help you recognize your size more quickly on the shelf and at home.

Measure the circumference of your erect penis at its thickest point—using a measuring tape, a string, or our printable PDF. Then find your size in our size chart.

Example: 13.5–14.5 cm penis circumference = size 60 (XL).

In that case, it's worth trying both sizes.

The measurement gives you a very good idea of what to expect. Ultimately, though, what really matters is how the condom actually fits: It should unroll easily, feel comfortable, and not slip during sex.

Conventional standard condoms have a nominal width of 52–54 mm. This fits about half of all men really well. Everyone else experiences difficulty unrolling the condom, slippage, tightness, or a noticeable loss of sensation.

With seven sizes ranging from 47 mm (XS) to 69 mm (XXXL), we cover over 95% of size requirements. After all, when it comes to shoes or T-shirts, we don’t expect the same size to fit everyone.

The width is especially important for a good fit. At the same time, the condom should be long enough to unroll all the way to the base of the penis.

A condom can’t really be too long, because you can simply roll it down as far as feels right for you.

Definitely not. If standard condoms (52–54 mm) have always been too big for you, try Mister Size 47 (XS) or 49 (S). With nominal widths of 47 and 49 mm, respectively, these are significantly smaller than conventional standard condoms.

No, most likely not. If conventional standard condoms with a nominal width of about 52 to 54 mm have been too tight for you in the past, were difficult to unroll, or felt uncomfortable during sex, you probably just need a larger condom size.

The most important thing is that the condom isn’t too tight or too loose. With the right size, it feels more comfortable and secure.

On Mister Size packages, the size—47 (XS) to 69 (XXXL)—is clearly visible on the front as a large, color-coded number. On the back, you’ll also find the required information regarding the nominal width in mm.

Bonus tip: The dark blue stripe on every Mister Size package is exactly the width your erect penis should be so that the corresponding condom size in the package fits you. That’s why the dark blue stripe varies in width on the packages for each condom size, and you can easily use it as a guide.

You can tell it’s too small if the condom is hard to unroll, feels tight or constricting, constricts you at the base, or causes your erection to subside. In extreme cases, it’s more likely to tear.

It’stoo big if wrinkles form, the condom slips during sex, comes loose at the base, or slips off when you pull out. In these cases, neither contraception nor protection against sexually transmitted diseases is reliable.

Both of these are signs that you should try the next smaller or next larger size.

Yes. If you don't know your exact condom size yet, you can start by measuring the circumference of your penis and then try out different sizes.

To help with this, MISTER SIZE offers various tools such as the MISTER SIZE measuring tape, the MISTER SIZE app, and the Condom Sizer, as well as test kits containing several adjacent condom sizes. This way, you don’t have to commit to a size right away—you can test for yourself which fit is most comfortable for you. The classic MISTER SIZE condoms, available in seven sizes, come in various pack sizes depending on the retail channel. These include packs of 3, 10, 36, and 100 condoms.

This allows you to try out a size with a small pack first or order a larger supply of your preferred size right away.

Condoms are subject to the Medical Devices Act and must therefore be certified. This can be identified, among other things, by the CE mark on the packaging. To ensure that a condom is truly safe, it should fit perfectly. A condom that’s too small is more likely to tear, while one that’s too large is more likely to slip off.

Yes. With seven sizes ranging from 47 mm (XS) to 69 mm (XXXL) in nominal width, combined with latex’s natural elasticity, Mister Size fits virtually every body type. If you have a latex allergy, you should opt for latex-free alternatives.

There are still two reasons to use condoms, even in addition to hormonal birth control:

1. Protection against sexually transmitted diseases: The pill only protects against pregnancy, not against HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and other STDs.
2. Hormone-free birth control: Many couples make a conscious decision to stop using hormonal birth control, at least for a while—for example, because of side effects or a desire to have children. In these cases, condoms are the most reliable hormone-free alternative.

Short periods of heat—such as leaving a package in the car or spending a weekend at the beach—are not a problem. For longer-term storage, keep the item in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, ideally at a maximum of 30 °C.

You should avoid prolonged exposure to heat and keeping it in your wallet for months on end—friction there can damage the film. Read more in the blog post.

5 years from the date of manufacture when stored in the original sealed packaging. You’ll find the exact best-by date on the outside of the package and on each individual packet. Store the condoms in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and they’ll remain safe until the date printed on the package.

A condom is a thin, tear-resistant sheath that is rolled onto the erect penis before sex. It collects semen and thus prevents it from entering the partner’s body.

In this way, the condom provides dual protection: against unplanned pregnancy and against sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, chlamydia, syphilis, or gonorrhea. It is currently the only contraceptive that offers both forms of protection.

Thanks to the perfect fit of our Mister Size condoms, they feel like a second skin—making them comfortable to wear while providing the protection you need.

Condoms are hormone-free and therefore have no side effects in the medical sense. However, three things may still occur:

1. Latex allergy: About 2% of people are allergic to natural latex—experiencing redness, itching, or a burning sensation. If this applies to you, latex-free condoms are available as an alternative.
2. Irritation caused by lubricants or additives such as spermicides: Mister Size uses pure dimethicone (silicone oil). This is known for its good tolerability.
3. Discomfort caused by the wrong size: Condoms that are too tight can pinch and impair an erection as well as sensation. Condoms that are too loose can shift out of place, causing them to slip off or cause friction.

The third cause is the most common and the easiest to resolve: choosing the right condom size.

There are often two causes:

1. The wrong size: The condom is too tight → The erection subsides
2. Uncertainty about how to use it: “Am I doing this right?”

Both issues are easy to resolve.

Tip: Try using condoms on your own first, for example, during masturbation. Once you get the hang of it, the mental pressure goes away, and with the right size, most problems are solved.

Yes. Thin condoms are just as safe as thicker condoms, provided they meet the applicable requirements, fit properly, and are used correctly.

All condoms approved in Europe must meet the requirements of EN ISO 4074 and pass various quality and stress tests. These include, for example, the air test: In this test, condoms must be inflated with up to 18 liters of air without bursting. This demonstrates just how durable even very thin condoms are.

A thinner wall doesn’t make a condom any less safe. Above all, it ensures that sex feels more natural and that more sensation is preserved.

Thin condoms are also suitable for anal sex. It’s important to use enough lubricant to minimize friction. For this, we recommend a condom-safe lubricant, such as our MISTER SIZE Premium Lube.

Yes. Sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, can be transmitted through the oral mucosa. Extra-thin condoms, such as Mister Size, are also suitable for oral sex and are virtually tasteless.

MISTER SIZE condoms are made of natural rubber latex and are therefore not suitable for people with a latex allergy. In this case, you should use condoms specifically labeled as latex-free, such as those made of polyisoprene or polyurethane. MISTER SIZE condoms are not currently available in a latex-free version.

You should store condoms in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight. They should not be exposed to temperatures above 30 °C for extended periods. Brief exposure to higher temperatures—for example, during shipping or while traveling—is generally not a problem. However, avoid storing them for extended periods in very warm places, such as in a car. Also, always check the expiration date and make sure the individual condom wrapper is undamaged before use.

Condoms are currently the most widely used form of birth control in Germany. According to the representative study “Adult Contraceptive Behavior 2023” by the Federal Institute for Public Health (BIÖG, formerly BZgA), 53% of adults who use birth control use condoms. The birth control pill follows at 38%, and the IUD at 14%. Respondents could select multiple options.

For the study, 1,001 sexually active adults between the ages of 18 and 49 were surveyed. Strictly speaking, the figures therefore refer to adults using contraception and not exclusively to couples.

Condoms have a particular advantage: They not only help prevent unwanted pregnancies, but can also significantly reduce the risk of transmitting HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Many STIs can occur without noticeable symptoms, so it’s impossible to tell by looking at someone whether they have an infection.

In addition, condoms contain no hormones, are used only when needed, and both partners can take responsibility for contraception.

It is important to use them correctly and to choose the right size.

MISTER SIZE condoms are made from premium natural rubber latex. Natural rubber is the main component of the condom and is supplemented by other ingredients necessary for condom production.

Depending on the size, the wall thickness ranges from approximately 0.05 to 0.06 mm—ultra-thin, without compromising safety.

Mister Size condoms contain no animal-derived ingredients or byproducts, are manufactured without the use of animal-derived materials, and are not tested on animals. Mister Size condoms are therefore vegan-friendly.

MISTER SIZE condoms are exceptionally thin and were designed to provide the most natural feeling possible during sex. The seven condom sizes have a wall thickness ranging from 0.05 to 0.06 mm. Despite their thin walls, the condoms meet all required standards and testing for condoms, ensuring reliable protection.

In addition to the thin wall thickness, choosing the right size is also important. A condom that fits comfortably—neither too tight nor too loose—is significantly less likely to be a distraction during sex.

MISTER SIZE condoms are made from high-quality natural rubber latex and are designed to have a pleasant, neutral scent with as little odor as possible. Natural rubber latex can generally have a slight, characteristic odor, but many users find MISTER SIZE condoms to be low-odor or nearly odorless.

In the manufacture of conventional latex products, casein—a protein derived from milk—may be used as an additive, among other ingredients. MISTER SIZE condoms are vegan-friendly and are produced without any animal-derived ingredients or additives.

MISTER SIZE condoms also contain no added flavorings and are transparent.

The classic MISTER SIZE condoms, available in seven sizes, are transparent and have a smooth surface. They have a cylindrical shape with a reservoir tip and come pre-lubricated with dimethicone.

MISTER SIZE focuses not on ridges or other textures, but on the combination of the right size, thin material, and a comfortable fit.

1. Store condoms in a cool, dry place; check the best-by date; and inspect the packaging for damage.
2. Tear open the package with your fingers—never use your teeth or sharp objects.
3. Check the direction of unrolling. If the condom won’t unroll, it was on the wrong way. In that case, use a new condom.
4. Squeeze the reservoir tip with your thumb and index finger, pull back the foreskin, and unroll it completely over the erect penis.
5. After sex, hold the base of the condom and carefully roll it back while the erection is still present.

When used correctly, about 20 out of every 1,000 women become pregnant within a year—the WHO therefore estimates that protection against unplanned pregnancy is about 98%. In real-world use, the rate is about 60 to 130 out of every 1,000 women. This range is almost entirely due to user error and does not yet take into account the use of perfectly fitting condom sizes.

When used correctly and in the right size, condoms provide very reliable protection. They are also the only contraceptive that protects against HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B/C, and gonorrhea.

Use a new condom.

If the condom won’t unroll, it was on the wrong way. Don’t just flip it over—there may already be traces of seminal fluid on the outside. Throw it away and start with a fresh condom.

You can tell which way to unroll it by making sure the rim and the reservoir are pointing away from you and the condom rolls down easily.

No.

If the individual foil wrapper is torn, opened, or otherwise damaged, you should not use the condom. Instead, take a new condom from an undamaged package.

The same applies if the expiration date has passed or if the condom seems unusually dry, sticky, or damaged.

In testing, yes—according to EN ISO 4074, condoms must be able to withstand at least 18 liters of air without breaking. In practice, the most common causes of a broken condom are: incorrect use, the wrong size, or improper storage (heat, sharp objects in a wallet).

If a condom breaks, it depends on whether there is a risk of an unintended pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection.

To prevent an unintended pregnancy, the morning-after pill can be used. It should be taken as soon as possible after the contraceptive failure. Depending on the active ingredient, the maximum time window is 72 hours (levonorgestrel) or 120 hours (ulipristal acetate). The sooner it is taken, the more reliable it is. The morning-after pill is available over the counter at pharmacies, where you can also receive personalized counseling.

If there is a risk of a sexually transmitted infection ( STI ), you should seek medical advice and, if necessary, get tested. When an STI test is appropriate and reliable depends on the specific infection. Some infections can be detected shortly after exposure, while for others, a reliable test result is only possible after several weeks.

No, on the contrary. Two condoms rub against each other and are therefore more likely to tear. A single, well-fitting condom is always safer.

Every single MISTER SIZE condom is electronically tested for holes during production. In addition, the condoms are dermatologically tested, CE-certified, and meet the requirements of EN ISO 4074 for natural rubber latex condoms. This means the condoms undergo strict quality and safety checks before they are packaged.

No, all condoms are single-use products. Even a condom that has already been opened but not used should not be saved for later.

Suitable: all water-based lubricants (Aqua, Bio, Hybrid lubes). The packaging should state “suitable for latex condoms.” Our Mister Size Premium Lube, for example, is a perfect match for our condoms.

Not suitable: oil-based lubricants such as silicone oil, baby oil, petroleum jelly, body lotion, and massage oil. These can damage the latex, causing the condom to become brittle.

No. A well-fitting Mister Size condom is already very safe. Spermicides offer little additional protection but can cause irritation. If you want even more reliable protection, combine a condom with a hormonal or barrier method used by your partner; however, when our condoms are used correctly and in the right size, this isn’t actually necessary.

In 2026, MISTER SIZE introduced a new packaging design for all seven condom sizes. The size is now even more clearly identifiable and is additionally labeled from XS to XXXL. The color codes have also been updated, with “Pure Feel” and “Extra Fine” being replaced by the internationally recognizable term “Ultra Thin.”

Nothing has changed about the condom itself: the material, wall thickness, shape, lubricant, dimensions, and safety features remain the same. The EAN codes and package sizes also remain unchanged. Only the seal has been redesigned and is now easier to open.
