Our family-owned business entered the condom market back in 2001, and from the very beginning, our focus has been on finding the right condom size. At first, we only had a condom size finder and our online store, Vinico, but we soon began developing our own condoms. No, almost no contraceptive method is 100% effective. The effectiveness of contraceptive methods is calculated using the Pearl Index. Condoms have a Pearl Index of 2–12. This means that out of 100 women who use condoms for a year, 2 to 12 will become pregnant. Compared to other forms of birth control, condoms therefore perform rather poorly. In most cases, this is due to incorrect use. You can learn more about proper use here. However, when it comes to protection against sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, condoms offer a high level of protection.
Condoms are usually made of rubber-like materials, with the vast majority made of latex. They are used during sex to protect against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases and are rolled onto the erect penis before intercourse. Along with sterilization, the condom is the only form of contraception available to men.
Condoms do not have any side effects in and of themselves. However, they can trigger an allergic reaction in people with a latex allergy. About 2% of people have a latex allergy. That is why latex-free condoms are also available.
